Bob Greenberg
From 1popup.com: The WWE tag team titles changed hands tonight at the Smackdown tapings. PWInsider.com and WrestlingObserver.com are both reporting that Billy Kidman and Paul London defeated the Dudley's at the Smackdown tapings to win the belts. Kidman and London have been teaming for months, and this is obviously their biggest win. Wooooooooooo :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
Mr_Showtime02
Please...Bob...tell me you are joking...you're not...Darn...Well, that's it for the Dudleys...no more good story lines...unless they are setting up for the rumored WWE/ECW (Split for ratings of course)
Dead Crow
I expect London and Kidman to be used as jobber fodder momentarily...
Wolverine
I think it's a good thing that Kidman & London won the titles. At least we might see them on SmackDown! occasionally. Just a pity that aside from the Dudleyz they haven't got any good challengers for the belts.
Jung
Would be nice if they could face some cruiser challengers. They have plenty of guys who cud work that style, wud be logical. Ah but I forget WWE don't do logic
Alan
I was hoping something like this would happen, as only last week on Velocity i saw them beat the Dudleys in a non-title match. To be honest though i cant see it being a long reign.
The Gentleman
Long live cruiserweights! I know their reign as Champs will almost certainly be miniscule, but still... Cruiserweight Tag Champs makes me a happy man!
Fletch
wwe finally start repairing the damage but is it too little too late?

Mr_Showtime02
It's nice that the WWE is doing this, but this is really just a plot to get rid of the Cruiserweight Division in the WWE. If the Cruiserweights can win other belts besides the CW Title, why have it. That is the mentality of the WWE now.
Richard Flair
Did Trish Stratus and Molly Holly (Then known as Mighty Molly) not win the Hardcore title? Ah yes, I remember when the Womens Title was abolished...

If the Cruiserweights can win other belts besides the CW Title, why have it? That is the mentality of the WWE now. I agree with ya, but I don't think it's nice tho. Really, all this high-flying young talent, and you ship them to another division to get rid of a division of their own? Think down the road....Kidman and London vs. Big Show and A-Train for the belts....and you'd have a nice day if London and Kidman pulled off the victory? So long Kidman, London, Spanky, Chavo, Rey-Rey, Ultimo Dragon...we hardly saw ye. Hello NWA-TNA X-Division...you're about to blow up. Oh yeah, if you're Heavyweight Champ can win other belts while being the Heavyweight Champ, which division should get the heave ho?
Jung
I think ure missing the point. Cruiserweights should be a separate entity from heavyweights, cause they work a completely different style.
619er
Good. This means if they still have the titles at Summerslam, there will be a good match, cos Kidman allways does good matches in my view, & he hasent been on PPV sinse Wrestlemania & before that Veangeance. Final Thought: Is Good
Dead Crow
I'm shocked everyone is expecting anything from the WWE from this. Am I the only one who sees this as bringing the cruisers into the heavyweight division to use as either lower mid carders or jobbers since they can bump better than most? ......cjr......
This is only to please the net smarks, simple as. It's also a good way to make London and Kidman feel like they are worth something within WWE by giving them gold. They won't have the belts in a few weeks time. Mark my words. rtdwnthemiddle
I think ure missing the point. Cruiserweights should be a separate entity from heavyweights' date=' cause they work a completely different style.[/quote'] I can understand that. But like, I have an issue with the heavyweight champion getting some random partner, and winning the tag titles. There was a time when singles competitors wrestled for and won singles belts, while tag teams worked to win tag titles. For years, commentators talked on how wrestlers who left tag teams had to break out of that tag mentality once they were on their own in order to successfully compete for a singles belt. Now, you can put your IC Champ with your Heavyweight Champ, no matter how different or alike their styles are (high flying w/submission, power w/luchador - basically no cohesion as a group) and they can win the Tag Championship. So I was really kinda asking a whole different question - is the Heavyweight Championship devalued b/c your champ has to win more gold outside it, or is the Tag Championship worthless b/c two fellas who never had a conversation about anything, one of which is the heavyweight champ, can now also be tag champs? How many times can Billy Gunn tag in Bart if Billy wants to win the Heavyweight Championship? And if that's feasible, what's stopping Benoit from facing Orton for the IC Title, and they're not trying to unify the two titles? Annoyus
I was surprised and impressed to hear about this title change.. its about time superworker London got some TV time (I'm less keen on Kidman, who I haven't seen a good match out for a fair old while) But after the initial delight I started to realise that its only a matter of time before these guys get crushed by two lumbering A-Trainesque jobbers. I'll be very surprised if this is anything more than a transitional reign much like Rico & Haas before them designed to generate some interest in a division that is no longer relevant to the product...and you can read that as the tag division OR the cruisers. The plight of talented cruiserweights is well documented, but I think the state of WWE's tag division is pretty serious right now.. across both brands there are only a handful of teams (FBI, La Resistance, Dudleyz, Rosey & Hurricane, Bashams) and none of them save the Dudleys are taken seriously. Instead we get pointless and temporary combos like Benoit and Edge or Ric Flair and Batista that nobody cares about because its obvious they are so transitionary. As soon as a tag team starts to get any momentum WWE seem to be keen to split them up and use them as singles stars, like Haas & Benjamin or Jindrak and Cade. The demise of the specialist tag team is a sad, sad thing in my mind :(
Evil Gringo
Next week the Dudleys will retain in a squash, how much you wanna bet? Somewhere down the line they will beat the snot out of the two and win the gold.... And talking about tag and singles wrestlers.... London and Kidman were two singles wrestlers who were cobbled together on Velocity to give them something to do, just like Rey and Kidman were last year and London and the now defuncunt team with Spanky.... Enjoy it while it last lads... just remember Spike's in bad shape now so which one of you is gonna be the new small fall guy?
