Right, this has been bugging me for a good while now...

It used to be that people were put out with piledrivers, powerbombs, dropkicks, two on one attacks, a belt shot...anyway, you get my point.

What is the point in driving a truck into an ambulance or knocking someone down...for starters it's illegal, or are we supposed to just forget that? I mean what next, what trapese act are we going to watch next...someone being thrown out a helicopter perhaps, a plane being flown into the side of the hotel where the wrestlers are staying or maybe four wrestlers will be out kayacking and end up going over a bloody waterfall.

The only problem now is that most moves have been ruined, too many kick out of DDT's and piledrivers or even powerbombs...and why do they kick out, BECAUSE NOBODY CAN WORK A MATCH ANYMORE!!!!!

:)

Finishers?

Yeah, like whats happened to them?

No match seems to end with a submission in the WWF anymore, it'sjust outright power. And if it's not that, it's interference or blatant cheating. Just once, I'd like to watch smackdown and see wrestling, not eastenders.

And shi**y finishers are the worst. The rock bottom? the peoples elbow? the worm? the spinaroonie? wtf wtf WTF

There not finishers, there just bad jokes that only 12 year olds see as being a legit power move to finish a match. The llast actual finish that I say that actual looked like you ain't getting up from it was from The Great Scot on Marco Di Fiore at the SCW show. That looked really nasty.

People should be stopped by genuine moves that genuinely stop you dead in your tracks, or make you tap out before you ankle/knee/elbow snaps into bits.

But, as this isn't as good a spectacle as 2 over muscled freaks bitch slapping each other (or laying the smackdown) I doubt we will see any technical wrestling matches or legitamate finshes in the WWF anytime soon. When was the last time you saw an episode of WWF programming when every match obeyed the rules? or for that matter the rules were consistently enforced. I thought so. No one has a bloody clue do they?

Hands up if you want to see wrestling and not a soap opera? I DO.

2 weeks

kenny has a valid point tho, wrestling yes is supposed to be an escape from reality, however many pieces in the puzzle dont fit.

like rock nearly kills someone from a people's elbow, yet can recover from being hammered and drove into?

i mean we've seen hawk fall from the titan tron and be back soon, yet kurt angle choked out from tazz.

I mean at no way out, jeff hardy took a 3d on the floor, few years back that wud have been like stretcher job, but now he's back following night, winning a match, yet rock gettin tombstoned on a car, puts him out for a fortnight?

yes its escapism, but sum logic pls.

I it me or do wrestlers tap out too quickly now? Last week Taz slapped on the tazmission on Test and he tapped out before he even got his arms around him. I'd like to see someone attempt to get to the ropes, then tap out. If you're being chocked it takes about 30 seconds at least for you to run out of oxygen.

Im also getting annoyed with these car crashes etc bring back the days when you injure a guy by doing a wrestling move on him. The only example of this ive seen in the past year was scotty's ankle being broken by kurt angle. Injuries should probably be used more to rotate the huge roster.

Someone criticised the Rock Bottom a few posts ago as a finisher but there are worse finishers than that. Maybe because its The Rocks finisher - you know the guy its cool to hate on the Internet - that it has been slagged off. I agree that the people's elbow is very stupid but the Rock Bottom is a far better finisher than something like the Breakdown.

Take away too much of the reality and it just gets ridiculous.

Besides which surely for example Test would be shown as more impressive hitting his big boot and keeping a guy out for a few weeks with a concussion (a display of what he can do in the ring), than by driving a car into someone.

I have the talent to run someone over if I want, hell I could be the guy to put Steve Austin out of the WWF if Vince so decided, but there's no way I could convincingly cripple him in the ring.

It needs storylines and promos to keep it interesting, but the promotion should always revolved around what goes on in the ring in my opinion

Don't you think people take wrestling too seriously these days? Would you be having this debate about how unrealistic Eastenders is, with all those things happening to a small group of people that live round one square in London?

It's bubbblegum for the brain, people. If you don't like it, stop whinging about it and stop watching it. I agree that the aftermath of the Rock's "accident" was a bit over the top (Lawler using the voice reserved Owen's death, for example) it still coems back to the fact that the WWF, like it or not, is a soap opera with wrestling in it, not the other way round.

Get used to it, or stop watching.

As wrestling fans, people are allowed to complain you know, we've gone over this before i think.

If you see something you think is ridiculous, you can complain cause you like wrestling and dont want to end up having to stop watching cause its got too ridiculous.

Of course the Rock thing was over the top, they have one of these things every now and then which they take too far. Lets have a nice mix of both things eh.

yeah right, i'm fed up having this converation every time i slate the wwf. nobody complains when i slate xpw. and as it happens if i was an eastenders fan, then yes i probably would sit down complaining about how unrealistic it was but i'm not. i'm a wrestling fan, not just a wwf fan, but a wrestling fan. if i see something i don't like i'll complain. when i prasie wwf nothing's mentioned, when i slate them i get jumped upon. i have opinions and i'll state them all i like

Totally agree with Jayden and Simon. I'm sick of people saying "if you dont like it, dont watch" everyone is free to criticise what ever they want. The only way something can get better is by critisicm. Plus it is possible to hate how an organisation is run and some of that organisations employees yet still like the organisation and some of its employees. For example i hate the way Ken Bates runs Chelsea and i hate certain players yet i keep my season ticket due to love of the team, the game and certain players.

Anyway what sort of ignorant muppet doesn't criticise? how do you feel about the taliban? oh they're alright if you dont like them ignore them. Probably bad example but you can apply it to anything.

I don't like vegetables... they don't taste like chocolate. Will complaining about it to everyone within 10 miles help that fact, or just annoy people?

Criticise if you like, but criticise to people that have the ability to change things. No point telling me that you hated The Rock's demise, and then trying to get me to change my opinion to suit yours (as often happens : "How can you like it??? Call yourself a wrestling fan..." etc etc) cause I can't do nowt about it.

Fed up saying I liked something and then having so-called smarts ram their opinions down my throat. Just cause I (kinda) clued in to the backstage stuff, doesn't mean I can't just sit down, turn my brain off and enjoy the show. I choose to do that.

I can see both sides of the arguement.

I agree that the nWo/Rock thing was way over the top, though just the truck bit, the beatdown was fine.....almost. But the WWF did need a HUGE angle to get the nWo (who we all know are knocking on heaven's door) over as a threat in the eyes of your average WWF fan. I guess those bright sparks with the pencils felt that just giving Rock a beatdown which we've see countless times before in WCW wouldn't be enough.

I think you all know what a huge WRESTLING fan I am but it's not like the stunt stuff is going to happen every week. Yes, it was stupid, but it's just a once in a blue moon thing to get the fans' heat and attention. If it starts happening regularly then you can shoot be down in flames....

Anyway, I'm sure Rock's not complaining - a few weeks off relaxing at home, can't be bad.

The day I stop complaining about too much sports entertainment and not enough wrestling is the day the World WRESTLING Federation rename themselves World SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT...not gonna happen, after all where would one hour and 20 minutes of bs be without some cruddy moves to make the flavour of the month look good.

You can witter on about Eastenders and soap operas all you want, but you don't watch a Soap Opera to see a round of the Bobsleigh at Kindergarten...so, logically, you don't watch wrestling shows to see a majority of action which isn't in the ring and wouldn't make sense even on a cheesy soap opera on flaming UK Living.

We all started watching the WWF because of the WRESTLING and the in-ring action, there is no damned way in hell anybody can deny it.

If you want to watch a Soap Opera, then go watch one, but don't complain when wrestling fans...sod marks, we're all bloody marks or smarks...want to see more wrestling on a wrestling show.

As for criticising to people with the power to direct and dictate change...this, for those of you who have forgotten, is a wrestling fan forum and is where discussions take place. Ironically, talking to us isn't going to change the fact that we are going to talk about wanting to see more wrestling. :)

1% of the population can direct any sort of change that is meaningful, so why even bother complaining about anything really? Answer, because people will discuss things no matter what and like I've said before there is no point getting annoyed about it.

complain all you want - just don't expect me to change my point of view because you (or anyone) think you're in the right and everyone else is wrong.

I can also see both sides of the "debate" but sadly, some people can only see their side and their side is right, dammit...

World WRESTLING ...you know, that bit where guys get in a ring for longer than 5 minutes and give the crowd a story of good vs evil. Where they hit suplexes, powerbombs, piledrivers, moonsaults, planchas, lock in submission moves... Federation

Without wrestling what is the soap opera???

Without the soap opera wrestling can exist.

This week, WWF RAW but with no wrestling...

Triple H: I'm the Game-uh, I'm going to go to Soap Opera Mania and stand in a ring with someone, cut a promo, then just jump out the ring again.

Chris Jericho: Ha, I'm the unified Soap Opera Champion. See these belts, they mean i'm the best at erm urm...*whispers* Can I say wrestling?* ...nevermind. Soap Opera Mania is going to be myyyyyyyyyyyyy-uh greeeeeeatest moment, because I erm...

The characters are fighters, you know they wrestle and they gain victories and those victories ultimately dictate what their career path is.

Maybe we could put a park in the middle of Times Square and call WWF New York the New York Queen Vic!

My major problem is that the wrestling is becoming noticably less and less, so what is the next step...how will it evolve next? Seems the majority...who are right of course...want less wrestling and more "total package". I remember when even the total package took place in the ring...long gone are those days and I miss them.

Things is, you all keep mentioning about people trying to change other people's opinion. I genuinely don't think I've ever seen that in here. There's a big difference between stating your own opinion, and trying to change somebody elses.

Quite frankly what difference does it make to me what you like about wrestling? I can only comment on what i find entertaining, and what makes me sick.

Bottom line, this is a forum, a place for people to outline their views and opinions, their like and dislikes about wrestling. If you all you want to read is wwf praise then go to http://www.wwf.com, not to a fan forum.

This is all to do with so many little kids watching it for The Rock, Austins etc etc Promos.

Actually, i do not mind promos, as long as there short and to the point, if not, entertaining to watch, but i could defintely live without ANY kind of entertainment, whatsoever.
