Sapp Vacates!

Recommended Posts

Big news! Bob Sapp, the man who defeated Kensuke Saski to become IWGP champion in New Japan has vacated his title!

Sapp who is a huge star in Japan due to his exploits in MMA promotion K-1 was brutally beaten by Kazuyuki Fujita in a K-1 MMA rules event on the 22nd of May.

This puts the planned Osksa event in turmoil as Hiroshi Tanahashi was set to fight Sapp for the title on the 5th of June... NJPW have announced the title to be on the line in a desicion match with Tanahashi facing an as a yet unannounced foe. The rumour however is that Fujita may be the one he faces... the former IWGP champion did defeat Sapp and it was thought for quite a while his match against Sapp would be for Japans top title.

As for Sapp, he is currently in the US, saying he wishes to re-train from scratch and return sometime in the future, he is also nursing injurys for Fujita's offence which consisted of kicking him again and again in the face after a takedown.

As of now as well two other names have been pushed into the frame... Takayama and Nakamura have both been put into contention.

Omen man, if you had seen Sapp wrestle then you would know that he was a roided up big man with a basic move list and a lot of charisma... He got knackered after 5 minutes, his stamina was sooo poor, in Japan baring injury and other factors a main event goes on for nearly half and hour on a small show and in some case's like Nagata v Chono and Nagata v Nakanishi then can be 60 minute draws!

He did a powerbomb, a front dropkick, a clothesline, a Torture Rack oce and thats about it apart from a shoulder block. He sucked and the only reason he was given the belt was publicity... when his image was cracked bu getting beaten by Cro Crop and Fujita in a quick and brutal manner he legged it like the big pussy he is.

To be fair to Sapp his training time for MMA is limited due to Pro Wrestling and comercial work in Japan so when you go into a fight with a guy like Fujita unfit and unprepared its likely you'll be taken down and your head used like a football.

Takayama would probaly be the best choice business wise to hold the title but knowing the Inoki camp Fujita will no doubt get the belt and defend it in K1.

Tanahashi or Nakamura winning it and beginning a next generation fued with each other and Shitaba, as they are touted as the new three muskateers. Or the guys fighting it out with Nagata, Tenzan and Chono as establishing themselves as the future to be reckoned with would be awsome...

As for Sapp, let him stay in MMA and out of Pro Wrestling, he doesn't belong there and by overexposing himself and believing his own hype he has jeapodised K-1's chances of attracting as much hype towards to the match with Tyson they've been working on.

The NJPW lords have decided that Fujita is the guy who should fight Tanahashi for the title tomorrow in Osaka... They at first ruled out the idea of the men fighting each other but it would be logical seeing as it was Fujita who beat Sapp last and that match caused the whole mess...

Well yeah he's been beaten again at a small K-1 event, a match he usually would have walked...

So it looks like Sapp is through with K-1, he's no longer viable as a big name fighter as he's had three crushing loses now, his aura is shattered...

Well Fujita has won the title (see Crush II thread) and how did he do it? He used Tanahashi's head as a football as well...

Crazy really but the big story in K-1 last year was Tyson and a team of fighters v Ssapp and his team... crazy really but it would have sold millions of dollars around Japan and the US out of media attraction...

Plus Tyson really needed the money too, shame it ain't gonna happen now... funny K-1's biggest fighters, the Red Dragon and Sapp both got beat by pro wrestlers on the ROMENX card... Nakamura beat Dragon bu submission as well... all of Inoki's affalited fighters (NJPW or Inoki trained) beat legit fighters... Do you smell a fix?

Hey Gringo have you read this monthes PowerSlam? It has the history of Pro Wrestling and how and when it became a work.

If this is a "fix" then I for one wouldn't be surprised.

Isn't Inoki famous for his "fixes"? Maybe not the one I'm thinking of.

Out of his depth.

Well Spirit K-1 is a legit shoot company... its matches aren't works at all they are supposed to be two men kicking and punching the hell out of each other...

So when you look at the history of pro wrestlers being put in this enviroment then it sems strange that 5 wrestlers beat 5 shooters in one night on the same card in a company that until recently Inoki had a big hand in....
