Konnan Has Signed A WWE Contract

Just read about this on a news site, where they are stating that Konnan has recently just signed a lucrative 1 year deal with WWE as a commentator/backstage interviewer.

Okay, I can understand this. Because if I am thinking correctly, Konnan has stated that he wants to get back into shape to wrestle, and with Konnan's wrestling ability, i don't see why WWE wouldn't want to use him when he does. I mean, in WCW Konnan used many different styles of wrestling. Tecnhical, Lucha Libre, Submission, High Flier....he did it all. I especially liked his Tequila Sunrise move. It was a great finisher. Hopefully he gets back into shape soon. I think he'd be a great addition to the roster. Be a shame if he never got to wrestle...

Oh man, Konnan is one guy who I completely despise. He is fat and lazy in the ring, plus his "Bowdy bowdy rowdy rowdy" crap REALLY gets on my nerves...I hate Konnan, and I know Vince doesnt like him either.

I guess he is bringing him in as a favour to WWE champ Eddie Guererro.

i dont mind konnan, wouldnt mind seeing him wrestle again, then again I dont see him making too much of an impact on the WWE scene. WWE already has far too much talent to know what to do with. commentator for WWE, maybe. Wrestler for WWE, nah!!!

Eh, Konnan has been out of shape for the last couple years. During his time in WCW, he was a great wrestler with decent technical skills.

Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero pushed to have him brought in. if those two see something in the guy, that means a lot because those two are superior wrestlers and entertainers. I don't think it was a favor by Vince. I think Vince more or less realized that the WWE needs some spice with it's commentators and backstage interviewers and realized Konnan might be the key. He'd be a good addition to SmackDown or RAW IMO.

I disagree when you say that Eddie and Rey pushed for him to come in cos they see something in him. They pushed for him to come in cos he is their friend and they are helping him out get a job and earn some decent money.

Much in the same way Sting said he would go to WWE if they took Lex Luger too (God forbid).

Also, same as when Hulk went to WCW, and he helped bring in Duggan, Savage, Beefcake, Honky, Earthquake, The Warrior etc.

Konnan may be ok as an announcer, and thats cool, but not in the ring, he is dire.

Thing is as Eddie did push for Konnan to be a part of the fed (he did trust me on this) and Konnan doesn't plan out as hoped then that puts Eddie in Vince's firing line... Eddie had better hope he doesn't screw up and Konnan doesn't either or Vince will take it out on both of them.

See that's where you are wrong. Hogan is not friends with 3/4 of the people you just mentioned. He's not friends with Savage (they actually have a real life feud going on), Honky Tonk Man (Honky despises Hogan), and John Tenta aka Earthquake (Never has liked Hogan.) So, it definitely wasn't Hogan's influence that brought those guys into WCW. Hogan may lie about it in his book, but it was more or less the ability and talent of the wrestlers to be brought in.

The fact is, Vince would not have hired just any common day wrestler in the WWE. The guy would have to have talent, and Konnan does. Whether it's on the mic or in the ring (when he's in shape of course), Konnan has the talent. Friend or not, Rey and Eddie would not have recommended that just anyone of their friends to be brought in. That's like say, "Hey, here's my younger brother Hector Guerrero (or whatever his name is), bring him in because he's my friend. Screw the talent and ability of the man. I just want him in because he's my friend." Nah dude, shit like that doesn't happen. I'm sorry, but Vince hires people with REAL wrestling talent and superior mic skills. I mean, why else would they have turned Teddy Long from referee to a manager? The guy is superior on the mic. They don't just put anyone out there as manager. Think they're gonna put Charles Robinson in as manager? No. Because if I remember right, he was horrible on the mic in WCW when he was "little naitch."

Get what I am saying?

He never said they were friends. But it's common knowledge that Hogan got Heenan, Tenta, Savage, Warrior, Mean Gene, etc, into WCW. In the same way, Eddie and Rey pushed for Konnan to get a job, the same way The Undertaker lobbied to bring Kronic in back in 2001.

Konnan was a great worker up until about 1997 or so, then he slowly started to deteriorate. Still, his interview skills aren't awful, but at present, his wrestling is. SO I hope they do keep him as an announcer but nothing more.

I know he lobbied to get them into WCW, but my point was that they didn't come in because they were Hogan's friends. Did ya notice how Hogan didn't lobby to bring anyone in that would be a threat to him and the World Title?

I mean, even bringing in Savage (who is 10x the wrestler Hogan is) and Warrior (who is just flat out horrible in the ring), he didn't think twice about it because he knew he had the pull to keep that title around his waiste.

I never did understand why Kronic quit. I mean hell, why not go to OVW to improve your ring skills? I mean, Nash (another horrid talent in the ring), Kanyon, Rhyno, even Saggy Boy Flair has done it. What makes those two think they are better? They were a great tag team in my opinion in WCW, but they deteriorated in the time between....

When has Flair gone to OVW to improve his skills? As for Kanyon and Rhyno, they spent time in OVW to work off ring rust and to help out the young kids, not to improve their skills.

I also haven't seen any reliable sources saying K-Dawg has signed, just a lot of rumours about Rey and Eddie pushing for it.

Flair never went to OVW to improve his skills, he went to help out the younger talent and wrestle with his son David when he was under a WWE developmental deal.

Kanyon and Rhyno went their to work off Ring rust, which is YES, improving their skills and getting back into ring shape. You lose those sort of things when you're gone from the ring a decent amount of time. Which is the same reason that WWe wanted Kronic to head to OVW and they didn't feel like they needed to.

But, I have seen where he has signed a WWE deal through WrestlingPlanet.com, which is a decently reliable source seeing as how they get most of their news and rumors through PWTorch.com. Could be a fluke, but then again almost every single time they have said a talent has signed, they have. So I would take it as more or less a DEFINITE that Konnan has signed.

Dude, your WAYYYYYY off! Hogan WAS buddies with Savage when he brought him into WCW, and he was buddies with Honky, Beefcake and Duggan at that time also (Honky and Hogan have since had a falling out, but then Honky seems to hate everybody!). Hogan used his influence to bring ALOT of the ex-WWF stars into WCW, if you dispute that, I'm afraid your mistaken.

As for saying Vince wont bring in just anybody, well, your wrong again. Let me refresh your memory...Undertaker, 2001, recommended Vince bring in Kronik...and what happened? Yup, they were on the next PPV feuding with Taker and Kane (and subsequently getting fired because they sucked so bad!)

Vince McMahon brings in people as favours to his top guys more than you may think, thats a fact.

WHAT?!?! Since when has Hogan and Savage been buddies? They never have been! I mean even back when WCW was first established with Hogan and Savage they weren't. Did you ever watch that episode of Baywatch where they had Hogan, Vader, Flair, and Savage on there? They were having troubles with Hogan and Savage that shoot, and almost had to cancel that show due to thefact they thugh both of them were really going to start a real life fight!

Honky has never been friends with Hogan either, NEVER. And that comment on Honky liking no one? Jesus christ. How can you say that? Honky is one of the only guys that says it how it is, and a lot of the wrestlers don't like that. I mean people like Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, Hogan, Piper....all don't get a long with Honky. Why? Because the man catches them in lies. i mean read Arn Anderson's book. His book is full of nothing but lies, the same with Hogan and Piper. Piper is by far the worst person when it comes to lies and accusations. I mean, the guy at one time was so far out of wrestling shape, and asking $500,000 per match! The dude is nuts....Honky has called him on it plenty of times. And what has happened? Piper being his nutty self has told Honky that he's gonna get some Swedish people to hack Honky's site, he's even told Honky to meet him anytime anywhere for a fight, and when Honky has laid out the challenges and been in the same town Piper was in, Piper has no showed.

I mean, it's the same with Lawler. Us the fans of WWe are paying this guy's paycheck and he is a freakin pedophile! He had sex with 15 year olds from Kentucky not too long ago and got arrested for it. Not to mention his last wife Stacy Carter was like half his age...and this is Honky's real life cousin and Honky hates him.

All the people that Honky hates are real life liars, lunatics, and assholes. Just like Ric Flair. I mean, Ric Flair is a legend no doubt as he's made a ton of contributions in the past. but he's the same person that held Mick Foley down in WCW. The same person that is an asshole to fans outside of the ring day in and day out.

Like I said before dude, he may do them favors, but he wouldn't bring people in without trusting his talent's decisions on people. He just doesn't bring in people off the streets is what I am saying. He brings in people that are already established wrestlers and have been on the mainstream for quite a bit of time or people from OVW that haved earned their way to the spotlight.

Me being way off? Far from it. Maybe you need to check back into reality and read a little more things from behind the scenes. And where's your untapped resources from? Hogan's book? I wouldn't believe a word said in that thing. Did he mention he used to throw crack and coke parties for fellow wrestlers and his friends? Which mainly consisted of Ed Leslie and others with their snoot so far up his ass, which really didn't consist of a lot. Did Hogan also mention in his book that Jerry Lawler is undefeated against Hogan? I believe Lawler pinned Hogan a total of 17 different times and Hogan has not beat him once. Hogan is a great talent (not wrestling wise) but he had the other qualities to put the fans asses in the seats. But all in all, Hogan is a liar. Plain and simple. I would not believe one word the guy said. Not to mention he's horrible actor...

And Savage and Hogan HAVE been friends. They were friends in the WWF until about 1992'ish when a bit of animosity was there. The two made up for professional reasons and tried their best to get along on and off until only recently when Savage flew off the handle.

I know they were getting along for a short period of time. But I can't recall them ever being on good terms in WCW at all. I mean Hogan probably did push to have Savage in WCW, but the fact was that Savage would've eventually made it into WCW regardless, because the man could wrestle. I mean, just look at the Savage Vs. Steamboat matches at WrestleMania. Steamboat was a helluva wrestler, but it takes 2 to tango, ya know?

Arguable point (that it takes two to tango, not that Savage was a great wrestler) - Shawn v Sid from SurSer 96 was a ***** bout, but no-one claims Sid is a great worker.

Also, since when did Hohum care about good wrestling - it's not like his career is filled with great technical masterpieces, and one of favourite buddies to get pushed was Ed 'The Booty Barber With No Name, Face Or Talent' Leslie.
