Jack
With Turner almost sememingly returning to wrestling it has emergerged he will be buying AWA if he does return. The American Wrestling Association (AWA) has posted quite a shocking statement on their website. Dale Gagne, head of AWA operations, claims to be able to put together a match between Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. The statement on their site says, "After months of negotiations, the WWE has become unable to come to terms with not one but two of Professional Wrestling's biggest Superstars. Stone Cold" Steve Austin and the Immortal Hulk Hogan have both left the WWE, making them available for new national and international opportunities including wrestling on an AWA WRESTLING SUPERSTARS - LIVE! event. If you're a fair, festival, casino or promoter, the match of the century, Hogan vs. Austin, is an e-mail or phone call away." While this seems unlikely, both Austin and Hogan are currently free agents and are able to participate in such an event, should the money to secure the two biggest draws in the history of profsesional wrestling become available. We will have more on this story as it becomes available. This is all on from http://www.nodq.com and i dont know if this is true but just wanted your opinions on these rumours
Tajiri
From the Observer: In the best comedy award for the day, AWA Superstars put up this on its site: "After months of negotiations, the WWE has become unable to come to terms with not one but two of Professional Wrestling's biggest Superstars. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and the Immortal hulk Hogan have both left the WWE, making them available for new national and international opportunities including wrestling on an AWA Wrestling Superstars - Live! event. If you're a fair, festival, casino or promoter, the match of the century, Hogan vs. Austin, is an e-mail or phone call away. Anyway, a friend of mine asked wrote them and asked if he could book Hogan vs. Austin for his indie group. The response back was, "Thank you for the message. We've been swamped with inquires regarding Hogan and Austin. I'm not sure of everyones expectations financially, but in order to book and secure them, you would need to run a major facility and raw of house of $250,000 in order for the show to be profitable (sponsorship and ticket sales). Please let me know if you're still interested in pursuing this opportunity." Dale Gagne, AWA Wrestling Entertainment Inc.
Jack
yes but if you link the two then it is very reasonable
Dead Crow
It's been considered the biggest joke of the week by most people. How he figures that's gonna happen is the funniest thing of it all :)
The Beltster
To book these guys for a one off 1 on 1 match, I'm betting they would each want about $500,000 each so unless Ted Turner has seen this website and is considering it, I doubt it will happen any time soon. That, and the fact that Hulk has a crippled leg right now and Austin cant wrestle anymore, I wouldnt hold my breath. This guy must just be under the impression that all press is good press...even when its bad press, lol.
Russ
Someone called Gagne, who's in charge of a promotion, making a fool of themselves? Nah, that'd never happen. Edited April 25, 2004 by Russ
Tajiri
If you book Austin and Hogan can you have one of those famous AWA Turkey on a Pole matches?
tazz13
yeah and they should hold it in a studio with no fans to prevent interference :roll
Dead Crow
And let's make a WrestleRock album to go with it :D
Fletch
Thats the biggest bunch of crap ive ever seen in my life..... The hogan injured thing I thought was just a story TNA created due to the fact they couldnt sign Hogan....hmm As for Austin I really really dont expect we've seen the last of him in WWE. Id expect to see him at WM21 as I would expect to see the Rock again then
Cactus Jack
I thought Vince owned AWA, or is it just its archive?
Boyo
Perhaps I'm just being a facetious git but in their respected conditions, I wouldn't pay money to watch Hogan vs Austin, whether this article is real or fake or whatever. Cheers!
Jack
i would pay not because i was expecting angle benoit or bret and hbk but its because it would be the biggest match ever. and i think its suso=picious that turner wants to get back into wrestlin possibly with AWA and then awa mention a hogan austin match just put the rumours together
silverG
we'll just have to wait and see. Ted Turner back in business would be damn good. Competition is what the top dogs need right now. (And by top dogs I of course mean WWE and whatever premotion Turner creates or backs.)
Jack
damn good points ther silverG ure gettin some rep points!! if wwe doesnt get some decent rivalry then wrestlin will fade and die out and then well be left with nothin so any proper wrestlin fan wants a new company. Tajiri
It all makes perfect sense, Ted Turner will spend millions buying a shitty little independant promotion which hasn't had name value since the early 80s, put them on national prime time TV headlined by Hogan vs Austin! Of course this can't happen for another year because of legal issues with the WWE but lets not let logic get in the way of a retarded rumour! Paul
Don't say retarded, Nicole will kill you! Its a special rumour, from a special person who cleans windows. Just joking Bibby.
