  1. Comedian Louis CK comes to mind. He was hailed as edgy and insightful, and then the harassment allegations came. He is trying to get back through smaller venues and his website. Not sure if he will ever get other gigs.
  2. Streaming films and TV is great, but now with the pandemic I miss going to the multiplex. I only go about once a month, but I always like catching a new release on a huge screen in a dark cool room, even buying overpriced popcorn. Do you miss it also?
  3. I just scroll through whatever the YouTube algorithm picks. The one channel I follow most regularly is Insider and its sub-channels like Food Insider. I agree that the platform has a lot of sameness to it. Other times, you hit pure gold with random searches.
  4. Last night, I saw Bad Education on HBO. It stars Hugh Jackman and is based on a true story: In 2002, Frank Tassone — superintendent of a Long Island, New York, school district — got busted for embezzling millions over some years. Jackman was awesome. What movies or TV do you recommend from other channels?

Zoom is better than Skype or Google Hangouts for larger groups. Microsoft Teams is supposed to be pretty good, too, especially if you already use Office 365. Not tired of Zoom yet. Mandatory sheltering, yes.
  6. Musicians are coming across a bit better than actors on quarantine videos. I liked a couple of recent ones from Rolling Stone magazine's YouTube channel.
  7. Have not seen Bosch, but the story line looks good! I recognize Lance Reddick, from The Wire and the John Wick movies. @Boomer Tomorrow is the BCS season finale. This season was so, so intense.
  8. My current favorites are Tom Hanks, Keanu Reeves, and Florence Pugh. I also like Brad Pitt and Gemma Chan. However, I will skip movies with them if the plots just look too cheesy or dull!
  9. I tried watching the first episode. Seeing people raise big cats like pets makes me a little bit uncomfortable. But wow — looks like this series has been quite the sensation!
  10. Yesterday, I wore a cloth face mask for the first time ever. I hated it. I have much so appreciation now for people who wear them all day for work or other responsibilities. Are you wearing a mask these days?
  11. I was thinking of re-reading Great Expectations while sheltering in place. Ever since university days, I sadly have not read much old or new literature. Online articles have taken over.
  12. Such a great movie with an interesting mix of actors: Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Christopher Plummer, Christopher Meloni, among others. The ending really hits you.
  13. The weekends and weekdays feel alike now, even with remote work. I want to avoid having staycation days because I feel financially insecure right now.
  14. Canada and Australia have pulled out of the games. Both are asking for postponement – until 2021. Makes me wonder who else will join them.
  15. Wow, thanks! Nacho might be my favorite character so far. I love the UNM film students, too, especially the guy with the dark-rimmed glasses. Also, [spoiler=I miss Chuck and Werner.]
  16. I can see it now: All this panic buying, leading to overstuffed refrigerators and pantries. Unless the shopper is really organized about expiration dates and what to eat when, lots of fruit, veg, bread, and meat will start going bad. Multiply that by who knows how many households. Garbage pickup may get busier than ever!
  17. It bugs me that so many are buying way more than they need for the next couple of months (or even much longer). At least it eventually all gets used.
  18. Quite a number of schools and universities are done for the academic year in May. Now is a good time for those campuses to shut down and get deep cleaned for however long is needed.
  19. Now on the fourth season of Better Call Saul. These episodes are going really fast! The more I watch it, the more I enjoy it.
  20. I like going out for birthday lunches or dinners with family. Like others mentioned, I also keep it low-key. If I were really rich, though, I would host an occasional big party at a restaurant.
  21. It is crazy hearing about events and in Italy's case, whole regions shutting down. I wonder if the Tokyo Olympics will get delayed or cancelled.
  22. I would definitely recommend 1917, but not sure if I would rewatch it. The intensity I feel the first time I see a war story wears off the second time.
  23. I hate watching dirty dishes pile up, but once I start washing them I kind of like the soap smell and feeling the warm water.
  24. Has COVID-19 affected businesses, schools, and other areas where you live? Nothing different in my neighborhood so far, but I know that Chinatown has seen a big customer drop. I know one friend near me who is avoiding leaving her house as much as possible.
  25. @coleman I would have just believed the original charges, sad to say! Weird to think about, but other actors that were up for the Andy role were Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Nicholas Cage, and Johnny Depp.
